On May 20, Melissa Holmes joined us! After surviving two abusive relationships, she formed LSH as a secret group on Facebook. She provided other survivors with a safe place to vent, post and provide support for people who have also suffered abuse. She took it a step further and formed a Domestic Violence Awareness and Support Group called Love Shouldn’t Hurt. It started with about 30 members, and she now has over 1000 members worldwide.
LSH gives survivors a sense of purpose through daily prayers and supportive posts. She is an inspiration to others to leave abusive situations and support those healing from abuse. She even paid it forward by accommodating a woman to court to give her the courage to face her abuser. For 4 years LSH has encouraged, enhanced, empowered and elevated Domestic Violence awareness. Melissa just recently participated in Legislative Advocacy Day in Albany last month to help pass the Domestic Survivors Justice Act! She helped close a great month of advice on healing.
